Timney’s customers have been asking for a dedicated Remington Model 700 trigger for their long-range shooting and competition M700 platform rifles. They asked, Timney delivered – The Hit.
Timney’s engineers took a look at their M700 triggers and came up with a design that features new geometry. The HIT is robust and features our new Sear Engagement Adjustment Lock design (SEAL’d) that ensures a user-friendly experience, is adjustable for pull weight and overtravel, yet delicate enough to be set with a pull weight as low as 8 ounces up to 2 pounds.
Every part of The Hit is machined using state-of-the-art technology – no skimping with metal injection molding or stamped, old-school parts.
The trigger’s sear and trigger shoe are precision-machined, heat treated to 56 Rockwell with a black oxide trigger coating and an NP-3 plated sear for maximum lubricity and a lifetime of reliable performance. The Hit is backed by the legendary Timney No Hassle, Lifetime Warranty.
“The Model 700 was introduced in 1962 and Timney’s customers requested an aftermarket trigger for the 700 shortly thereafter,” said Calvin Motley, Director of Product Development for Timney. “John Vehr and I took a look at the Timney design in 2004 when I began working with him and made improvements based on what we had available at the time – as far as metals and machines. And we have been constantly improving and expanding our 700 lineups since that day. In fact, that is exactly what we did again with the HIT trigger. I took my 14 years of knowledge and engineering on our 700 replacement triggers and came up with what I think is the absolute best long-range, shooting competition trigger we’ve built for the M700 actions.”

- Set up your reloading bench where it (and stored components) will not be exposed to heat, sparks or flame.
- Establish a comfortable loading procedure and don't vary it.
- Keep your reloading bench, equipment and area clean and uncluttered. Label components and reloads for safe, easy identification. Never use powder from an unlabelled tin.
- Understand what you are doing and why it must be done in a specific way.
- Follow loading recommendations exactly. Don't substitute components for those listed in metallic data without reducing the load and working back up.
- Never substitute smokeless powder for black powder or Pyrodex because smokeless powder is much more powerful than black powder. Never mix two powders together.
- Wear safety glasses.
- Stay alert when reloading. Don't reload when distracted, disoriented or tired.
- Don't smoke, drink alcohol or take drugs while reloading or while in your reloading area.
- Keep everything out of reach of small children.
